While the funds’ assets are invested primarily in publicly traded equity securities, White Elm has broad and flexible investment authority. Accordingly, the funds’ investments may also include long or short positions in U.S. or non-U.S. publicly traded or privately issued or negotiated common stocks, preferred stocks, stock warrants and rights, corporate debt, bonds, notes, structured notes or other debentures or debt participations, convertible securities, fixed income securities, swaps, options (purchased or written), futures contracts, commodities, forward contracts and other derivative instruments, partnership interests and other securities or financial instruments including those of investment companies.White Elm utilizes fundamental research and is quantitative in their approach to company valuation. The firm employs the following investment strategies: Equity, Short Selling, Hedging, and Leverage.The firm's equity strategy is based on fundamental, company-specific research. In addition, the funds invest in diversified sectors globally in developed and emerging markets across all market caps. White Elm conducts a quantitative assessment of each equity position, based on the company’s expected return, to optimize position sizing and risk exposures across each fund’s portfolio. White Elm makes short sales as a form of hedging to offset potential declines in long positions in similar securities. They also use short sales to maintain flexibility and to generate profits. The firm uses a variety of financial instruments such as derivatives, including options, forwards and futures, for, among other things, risk management purposes. White Elm may seek to hedge against currency fluctuations. White Elm also employs the use of leverage.
