Even in the best of circumstances, growing up can present real challenges. For inner-city school children these challenges are multiplied many times over and are often overwhelming. Inner-City Scholarship Fund (ICSF) helps remove the fundamental challenge of getting a good education in a safe, secure environment in New York City. Nearly 70% of the students enrolled in the 93 designated elementary and secondary inner-city schools in Manhattan, the Bronx and Staten Island come from homes living at or below the federal poverty line - the average scholarship recipient's family income is approximately $24,000 per year. Over 50% of ICSF students come from single-parent households. Despite these impediments, our Catholic schools – in partnership with our donors – enable our students and their families to overcome enormous odds and break the cycle of poverty through education.

The Catholic Near East Welfare Association (abbreviated CNEWA) is a papal agency established in 1926 and dedicated to giving pastoral and humanitarian support to Northeast Africa, the Middle East, Eastern Europe, and India. CNEWA operates specifically in areas of concentrated mass poverty, war, and displacement, providing human dignity and addressing basic needs for vulnerable populations. As a Catholic organization CNEWA utilizes the network of Eastern Catholic Churches and devoted religious sisters in order to provide the most effective and holistic humanitarian support regardless of creed or religious affiliation.

2012 Democratic National Convention

The Democratic National Convention Committee is a not-for-profit organization responsible for planning and executing the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina, the week of September 3, 2012. This convention is going to be the most open and accessible in history. It isn’t about political ritual or simply renominating the president, it’s about Americans coming together. Success depends on involvement at the grassroots, engaging the American spirit and enlisting people who want to put their shoulder to the wheel and change the country for the better. From format to funding, this convention will increase the influence of the grassroots and empower more Americans to become involved in the political process.
