Mr. Tan Ye Peng
Founder

As a humanitarian and a serial social entrepreneur, Mr. Tan Ye Peng has a strong history of serving the community since his graduation from the National University of Singapore, in Computer Science, in 1997.

In March 2010, Ye Peng was named one of the honorees of the World Economic Forum (WEF) 197 Outstanding Young Global Leaders from 72 countries. He is recognized as one of the 200 people every year under the age of 40 for their accomplishments, commitment to society and potential to contribute to shaping the future of the world. Together with other Young Global Leaders, Ye Peng is now part of a powerful international community that can dramatically impact the global future.

The nomination into the YGL follows Ye Peng being named as one of the recipients of the inaugural Social Innovation Park Fellows Award in 2008, which recognizes outstanding and high achieving individuals who are creating systematic change in the community that they live and work in.

Together with Ms. Penny Low, Ye Peng was a founding member and served as the Executive Director of Social Innovation Park, Singapore. He has since focused much of his effort and influence in inculcating the concept of social entrepreneurship to leaders and the public. He travels regularly on invitation to speak and inspire leaders of organizations in many countries in Asia towards social entrepreneurship and innovation.

On the international humanitarian front, Ye Peng has been extensively involved in promoting literacy and education as well as improving the living conditions of children in Asia. Under his leadership, Ye Peng has initiated many projects such as English language Spelling Bee competitions, English summer camps and makeovers for orphanages in China. He also spearheaded humanitarian projects in the rural areas of China with a focus on equipping village schools with computers and the construction of wells, sanitary and electrical infrastructure. In Sri Lanka and Indonesia, Ye Peng supervised the funding and building of orphanages to provide shelter and basic amenities to more than 300 children.

In 2007, Ye Peng founded CityCare, a social enterprise with a mission to build a city that cares. He hopes to combat apathy and equip young people with the values and knowledge through education, empowering them to become social change agents. In short, CityCare empowers people to help people from the heart.
