The University of Florida (commonly referred to as Florida or UF) is an American public land-grant, sea-grant, and space-grant research university located on a 2,000-acre (8.1 km2) campus in Gainesville, Florida. It is a senior member of the State University System of Florida and traces its historical origins to 1853, and has operated continuously on its present Gainesville campus since September 1906. The University of Florida is ranked 14th overall among all public national universities in the 2014 U.S. News & World Report rankings, and has ranked within the top 100 universities worldwide. The University of Florida was also described as a "Public Ivy" in the book The Public Ivies: America's Flagship Public Universities.

Stetson University is located in DeLand, Fla., with a second campus in Gulfport, Fla. and two satellite centers. Founded in 1883 by Henry A. DeLand as the DeLand Academy and later renamed Stetson University to honor its benefactor, John B. Stetson, the university has a storied history of leadership, values and significance. The university is home to many Florida firsts, including the first collegiate newspaper, the oldest schools of business administration and music, the first college of law and was the state's first private university to integrate. The university is led by President Wendy B. Libby, supported by administrative offices which provide services and resources to students and faculty. Stetson University is home to 73 academic programs in four divisional areas and with undergraduate and graduate studies offered in many areas. The university is accredited by numerous accrediting agencies, including the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges, and curriculum is closely aligned with the marketplace to prepare students for life after Stetson. Undergraduate leadership, research, volunteer service and participatory activities flourish at all four of the university's locations.

The University of Memphis, also called the U of M, is an American public research university located in the Normal Station neighborhood of Memphis, Tennessee and is the flagship institution of the Tennessee Board of Regents system. With an enrollment of more than 23,000 students, the University of Memphis has 25 Chairs of Excellence and five state-approved Centers of Excellence. The University maintains the Journalism and Public Relations department, Center for Earthquake Research and Information (CERI), Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law, the former Lambuth University campus, which is now a branch campus of the University, the Loewenberg School of Nursing, FedEx Institute of Technology, and the Institute of Egyptian Art and Archaeology.
