Stephen Simsic joined U.S. Equities in 2000 as a project manager within the Real Estate Consulting Group. His primary responsibilities are acquisition, disposition, development consulting and project coordination. His current or recent assignments include acquisition of a 22,000 square foot site and disposition of a 14,000 square foot site for The Latin School of Chicago; development consulting related to the disposition of a 26,000 square foot site for the Episcopal Diocese of Chicago; development consulting related to a new student housing facility for Columbia College; due diligence and development consulting for Fourth Presbyterian Church; dispositions for the Chicago Board of Education; and development consulting related to Block 37 for the City of Chicago, a 2.7 acre site in the heart of Chicago’s Loop district.

Simsic’s prior professional experience includes JCDecaux, the world’s largest bus shelter company, where he promoted and developed the concept of a comprehensive street furniture program for the City of Chicago. The success of a pilot installation led to the city’s request for proposals for 3000 architecturally elegant bus shelters, newsstands and kiosks.

As director of urban planning for the Greater North Michigan Avenue Association, Simsic was responsible for all matters of zoning, design and traffic. During his tenure, he published ‘Vision 2012’, a long-range plan used by the area’s business, civic and governmental leaders. He also coordinated the efforts to create a new City of Chicago ordinance for Michigan Avenue signage. In addition, he published ‘Michigan Avenue by the Numbers’ which tracked development activity, demographic trends and economic activity.

Previously, Simsic was a consultant for the City of Chicago Department of Planning and Development. His projects included structuring development incentives, organizing property information and creating feasibility studies to support redevelopment of Chicago’s Near West Side.

Simsic holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from DePauw University and an M.B.A. from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management. He has also completed two years of masters-level coursework in urban planning.
