Biography

Stacie Morales is Senior Director of Strategy at the Center for Audit Quality (CAQ), where she focuses on helping the CAQ better understand, coordinate, and strategically align the profession’s U.S. policy positions with those in other jurisdictions.

Prior to joining the CAQ, Morales was the Executive Director of International Government at KPMG. In that capacity, she worked with firm leadership to develop global positions on public policy matters impacting the profession and to convey those positions throughout KPMG’s global network of member firms.

Prior to joining KPMG, Morales was an Economist at the U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs. In that role, she supported the Committee Members deliberations on financial reporting and insurance matters. She participated in the development and ultimate passage of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and the Federal Terrorism Risk Insurance Act.

Morales holds a JD from George Mason University School of Law. She obtained an MA in Economics from Clemson University where her studies were supported through grants obtained for her work with the University’s Center for Policy Analysis. During her graduate studies, she authored and co-authored several academic articles on political economy and institutional economics and was awarded a graduate fellowship at the Political Economy Research Center in Bozeman, Montana.

Morales has a BA in Spanish and International Trade from Clemson University. She is licensed to practice law (inactive) in the state of Florida.
