Biography

Serge Gravel is the senior partner of the firm's Paris office, and has been the partner-in-charge of the Riyadh branch operation in Saudi Arabia since 2011. He was also co-founder of Gravel, Leclerc & Associés, the full-service French law firm that merged with Fasken Martineau in 2009.

Drawing from more than thirty years of experience on both sides of the Atlantic, as well as from a multifaceted academic background in Canada, Europe and the United States, Serge possesses unique expertise in cross-border transactions, mergers and acquisitions, real estate, investment funds and financing, notably in the structuring of transactions and the international tax aspects thereof.

Serge also has an extensive practice in arbitration. Since 1975, he has acted as counsel, sole arbitrator or co-arbitrator in several ad hoc and ICC international arbitration proceedings.

A member of both the Québec Bar and the Paris Bar, Serge started practicing law in the Paris office of a Wall-Street law firm. He then joined a major Canadian law firm in Montréal, where he was a partner for over ten years before coming back to pursue his career in Paris.

Serge advises clients with an efficient and pragmatic approach, being familiar with both civil law and common law.
