President & Chief Executive Officer at CARE USA

CARE tackles underlying causes of poverty so that people can become self-sufficient. Recognizing that women and children suffer disproportionately from poverty, CARE places special emphasis on working with women to create permanent social change. Women are at the heart of CARE's community-based efforts to improve basic education, increase access to quality health care and expand economic opportunity for all. CARE also delivers emergency aid to survivors of war and natural disasters, and helps people rebuild their lives in the aftermath.

Member, Advisory Council at St. Simons Land Trust

The St. Simons Land Trust has become a community institution entrusted with an extraordinary responsibility: to protect our scenic and historic treasures and to preserve the beauty and charm of our island for generations to come. Since those early days, the Land Trust has preserved more than 1,000 acres (and another 200 acres in a nearby county). We also hold over 300 acres in conservation easements. The first parcel of land protected was the Gilbert property on Frederica Road, now the site of the popular John Gilbert Nature Trail which was opened to the public in 2006. The SSLT works with willing property owners to preserve their land using tools that include: conservation easements, donations of land and outright purchases of land through tax advantaged "bargain sales." We are guided in our work by our most recent strategic plan for land conservation on the island that has established target areas for our work and priorities for transactions.

We offer real-world experiences that give you a glimpse of what life as a lawyer will be like. And we expose you to diverse opportunities to help you determine where your passions lie—whether it’s fighting to protect a patent or a human life. Our professors have unique backgrounds and interests—from pioneering the Feminism and Legal Theory Project to uncovering the intersection of law and religion, to fighting for justice for Guantanamo Bay detainees. But they all share a culture of openness and collaboration with their students and with each other. As an Emory Law student, you are encouraged to challenge the status quo and follow your mind and your heart. You may aspire to do mergers and acquisitions in a large corporation, or to be on the ground pursuing the personal cause or in the courtroom defending an abused child. Whichever path you choose, you will leave Emory with a deep knowledge of the law and a set of valuable skills. At Emory, we prepare you for more than practice. We prepare you to challenge and change the world.

It is a part of the University System of Georgia and has satellite campuses in Savannah, Georgia; Metz, France; Athlone, Ireland; Shanghai, China; and Singapore. Initially, it offered only a degree in mechanical engineering. By 1901, its curriculum had expanded to include electrical, civil, and chemical engineering. In 1948, the school changed its name to reflect its evolution from a trade school to a larger and more capable technical institute and research university. Today, Georgia Tech is organized into six colleges and contains about 31 departments/units, with emphasis on science and technology. It is well recognized for its degree programs in engineering, computing, business administration, the sciences, architecture, and liberal arts.

Marvin & Palmer Associates (MP)is a large-cap growth manager that focuses exclusively on equity investments. The firm's investment products include: US equities, global equities, non-US equities and emerging markets equities. Their approach focuses on region, country, currency and sector analysis which is followed by a review of individual stocks. Holdings may be concentrated in a number of countries and sectors. Diversification is achieved through individual stock selection. Country and sector weightings may differ significantly from the benchmark index weighting. MP's investment process addresses both market and fundamental factors through a relative price strength screen and fundamental research. The firm employs a 3-step investment process. First, they use a relative price strength screen to analyze regions, countries, sectors, currencies and individual stocks based on relative price movement. Next, the firm uses fundamental analysis to validate or reject the screening output. Finally, MP applies the results to construct portfolios by setting country allocations, determining sector allocations and selecting individual stocks. MP invests in companies that have a combination of: (1) positive relative price strength and (2) superior, sustainable long-term EPS growth profile as determined by their assessment of the company's earnings outlook.Though not limited by sector, the firm tends to invest in the stocks of companies in the technology services, electronic technology, consumer non-durables, producer manufacturing and non-energy minerals sectors. They invest globally, primarily in the stocks of mid-cap and large-cap companies. c technology, technology services and finance sectors.
