UIC is a major research university offering the cultural, business and entertainment opportunities you can only find in a world-class city. As one of the top 200 research-funded institutions in the world, UIC faculty discover the things that others teach. Choose from 15 academic colleges including the UIC College of Medicine-the largest in the nation-which educates one in six Illinois physicians. With nearly 2,574 instructional faculty members, there is one faculty member to every 11 students, which allows for a more personal learning experience. What's more, 75 percent of tenured faculty members teach undergraduate courses and 83 percent of full-time instructional faculty have earned a PhD or equivalent. But it's not all work and no play at UIC... Our 16,911 undergrads and 10,669 graduate and professional students make up one of the most diverse student bodies in the United States. Whether living in residence halls, near campus or commuting, you'll find there's always something interesting going on, from social events, clubs, sororities and fraternities, to two state-of-the-art fitness centers, and more-not to mention everything Chicago has to offer just minutes away. And at UIC, we take our sports seriously. The UIC Flames compete in 18 NCAA Division 1 sports and have won a total of 38 conference championships. There's a wide range of intramural teams and sports clubs for students to join.

The Business Council is a voluntary association of business leaders whose members meet several times a year for the free exchange of ideas both among themselves and with thought leaders from many sectors. In its most fundamental form, the Council seeks to foster understanding through discussion. It promotes learning, best practice sharing and networking by its members with a view to making a contribution to our society, the global economy and to business generally. Since its founding more than 75 years ago, The Business Council membership has consisted of a group of current or former chief executive officers from a broad range of companies. All major industries are represented among the members of The Business Council. Because schedule demands on senior business executives are extensive, the Council provides an especially valuable opportunity to discuss major subjects in a broader ranging forum than is normally available in the course of business activities. As part of its process, the Council invites leaders in government, politics, academia, science, medicine, technology and other sectors to address the Council and to participate in its discussions. Council members hope that these discussions result in better understanding by their invited guests as well as by the members themselves. Today, the Council meets three times a year in a collegial atmosphere to share and explore ideas. As a gathering of peers from many fields, the Council is entirely an educational and deliberative forum. It never takes positions as an organization and does not advocate any policy or course of action. Individual members sometimes do present their own views in public discussions. But they do so as individuals, rather than as representatives of the Council.

RLJ Lodging Trust is a self-advised, publicly traded real estate investment trust focused on acquiring premium-branded, focused-service and compact full-service hotels. The Company's portfolio consists of 145 hotels in 21 states and the District of Columbia, with a total of more than 21,600 rooms. Our hotels are geographically diverse and concentrated in major urban areas and dense suburban markets that provide multiple demand generators from business, leisure and other travelers. At the same time, as a result of high construction costs and the density of these urban and suburban markets, these locales provide significant barriers to entry. We believe that our investment strategy and the current market environment present attractive opportunities for us to acquire additional hotels with significant upside potential. The company is a self-advised and self-administered Maryland real estate investment trust and is traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the stock symbol "RLJ". Our strategy is to invest in focused service and compact full-service hotels, which typically generate most of their revenue from room rentals, have limited food and beverage outlets and meeting space, and require fewer employees than larger hotels. We believe that such premium-branded, focused-service hotels have the potential to provide attractive returns relative to other hotel types due to their ability to generate revenue per room comparable to that of full-service hotels, while providing higher profit margins as a result of a more efficient operating model and less volatile cash flows. Our hotels operate under well-recognized global brands, including Courtyard by Marriott, Residence Inn by Marriott, Hilton Garden Inn, Homewood Suites by Hilton, Hyatt Place and Embassy Suites and we maintain strong relationships with these leading franchisors. The company became publicly-traded in May 2011 and was formed to succeed to the hotel investment and ownership platform of RLJ Development and its two remaining lodging-focused private equity funds, RLJ Lodging Fund II, LP and RLJ Real Estate Fund III, LP. RLJ Development was co-founded in 2000 by Robert L. Johnson, our Executive Chairman, and Thomas J. Baltimore, Jr., our President and Chief Executive Officer, and, over more than 10 years of operations, the company has developed significant expertise in acquiring and asset managing focused service and compact full-service hotels. Our experienced senior management team, which operated the company's predecessor, is comprised of seasoned professionals with extensive industry relationships and asset management experience that will allow us to continue to compete effectively for acquisition activities and generate strong internal growth. In addition, we plan to enhance the value of this platform by being open and transparent in our investor communications and following sound corporate governance practices

RLJ Development seeks to generate superior risk-adjusted returns for their investors through opportunistic, value-added real estate investment strategies. The firm strives to capitalize on their ability to attract low cost capital and identify well-located hotel real estate. They actively acquire, reposition, renovate and rebrand institutional-quality hotel properties throughout North America and the Caribbean. Their core strategy is to acquire upscale, limited service (often referred to as focused-service or select-service) and compact full-service hotels that are located in dense urban settings, or other distinctive markets, that offer strong barriers to competitive entry. RLJ Development considers investments in only the strongest brands in each respective market. The firm is well-capitalized and has invested in a portfolio of first-class hotels in strong, diverse markets. The firm is open to inquiries from hotel owners and operators that are seeking to recapitalize or liquidate their hospitality holdings. RLJ may also consider opportunities slightly outside of their core strategy.RLJ Development is appropriately established to serve as a fiduciary to institutional capital due to the complete absence of conflicting interests within their organizational structure. The firm provides no captive property management, purchasing or insurance brokerage services. Their objective is to maximize the value of the real estate and to generate superior risk-adjusted returns for their investors. In 2004, RLJ Development launched the RLJ Urban Lodging Fund I. The fund offered institutional investors the opportunity to invest alongside RLJ Development and to capitalize on the firm's ability to identify off-market acquisition opportunities, to financially structure them in an appropriate manner, to associate them with the strongest brands and operators, and carefully asset manage the properties through their investment lifecycles. In 2006, the firm launched the RLJ Lodging Fund II. The fund's primary strategy is to acquire and develop upscale, focused-service hotels with premium brands in urban markets or suburban locations in major metropolitan areas. In 2008, the RLJ Real Estate Fund III was launched. The fund seeks to acquire and develop upscale, focused-service hotels with premium brands in urban markets or dense suburban locations in major metropolitan areas. With this fund, RLJ Development expanded their investment strategy to include mixed-use investments in target markets.

The National Museum of African American History and Culture (NMAAHC) is a Smithsonian Institution museum established in 2003. The museum's building is currently under construction on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. The concept of a national museum dedicated to African-American history and culture can be traced back to the second decade of the 20th century. In 1915, African-American veterans of the Union Army met in Washington, D.C., for a reunion and parade. Frustrated with the racial discrimination they still faced, the veterans formed a committee to build a memorial to various African-American achievements. Their efforts paid off in 1929, when President Herbert Hoover appointed Mary Church Terrell, Mary McLeod Bethune, and 10 others to a commission charged with building a "National Memorial Building" showcasing African-American achievements in the arts and sciences. But Congress did not back the project, and private fundraising also failed. Although proposals for an African-American history and culture museum would be floated in Congress for the next 40 years, none gained more than minimal support.
