Texmaco Rail & Engineering Limited (Texmaco), a ISO: 9001-2008, an Industry for Industries founded its Heavy Engineering and Steel Foundry businesses in the year 1939 by renowned industrialist, Late Dr. K.K.Birla. The Engineering and Steel Foundry Divisions of Texmaco Limited were transferred to Texmaco, with the parent company retaining the businesses of Real Estate, Mini Hydel Power and Investments. The demerger has been done as per the decision of the Board in the FY 2010, to unlock the value of the shareholders in both the companies and enable them to focus on their core business strengths and grow independently of each other. Texmaco is now a proud member of ADVENTZ Group, comprising renowned blue chip companies, headed by the Group Chairman Mr. Saroj Poddar. The Group has been launched with the idea of one virtual company with many real businesses. It is based on four fundamental principles - Collaboration, Sustainability, Inclusiveness and being Global. With 5 manufacturing units extending over 170 acres, Texmaco is one of the leading Mechanical and Structural Engineering Companies in India, located in the suburbs of Kolkata. The Company manufactures a diverse range of products. It is the largest manufacturer of Railway Freight Cars, and Hydro-mechanical Equipment. Its product range also extends to Pressure Vessels, Road Repairing and Agricultural Machinery, etc. Over the years, it entered into technical collaboration with renowned Multinationals of Japan, U.S.A, U.K, Germany, Australia, Austria, Holland, etc. for further developing and expanding its product portfolio. Texmaco has strong credentials as the largest Freight Car manufacturer in India of modern hi-tech Stainless Steel cars. On an average, one out of every four Freight Cars on Indian Railways network is rolled out from Texmaco Works. Texmaco Freight Cars serve a host of core industries like Cement, Steel, Defence, Fertilizer, Oil, Aluminium, Thermal Power Projects, Chemical Plants, etc. These include Custombuilt Special Purpose Freight Cars for movement of large oversized consignments of individual weights upto 250 T. It has recently taken up production of ‘Loco Shell’ for Electric Locomotives, outsourced by the Indian Railways. Besides domestic market, Texmaco has also made significant thrust in overseas markets. Several Awards bear testimony to its successful achievements in National and International Projects financed by World Bank, ADB and other Multi-lateral Funding Agencies. The Steel Foundry of the Company is the largest in the Country with a capacity upto 30000 Tonnes of quality Castings per year. It has a State-of-the-Art facility set up by the world renowned M/s. Kunkel Wagner, Germany. The Foundry has earned the distinction of Quality Assurance Certificate (M-1003) from AAR (Association of American Railroads), making it the only Foundry in India qualified to export railway castings to the North American Market. Recently, it has also been crowned with the “IIF Foundry of the year 2009” by The Institute of Indian Foundrymen. Texmaco is an outstanding name in the field of design, fabrication, supply, erection, and commissioning of Hydro-mechanical Equipment for mega Hydro-power projects. It is also well-known for fabrication of Heavy Steel Structures for Thermal Power Stations, Fly-overs, Railway Bridges, Cranes and Equipment for steel plants, naval Ship Structures for Indian Navy etc. The Company has a Joint Venture with M/s. UGL Rail Services Limited, a leading engineering, maintenance and facilities management Company of Australia, for setting up a manufacturing facility at Kolkata in 50:50 partnership for the design, manufacture and supply of locomotive bogies, frames and platforms, wagons and wagon components for the Australian and other export markets. In addition to this, both parties look forward to exploring the rolling stock maintenance and refurbishment opportunities. UGL Rail is Australia’s largest complete rail solutions provider. The Company is also in the advanced stage of negotiation with Multi National Groups to enter into a Joint Venture for manufacturing of Electric Multi Unit (EMU) and Metro Coaches at the Company’s plant site near Kolkata. Texmaco’s forte, however, is its team of dedicated professionals, a team which has grown with the Company and is closely identified with the corporate objectives. It has to its credit a singular record of industrial harmony stretching over several decades. The management cares for its human assets. In Texmaco Estate, there are club facilities including Gym, Swimming Pool and various indoor and outdoor games. it has a centrally air-conditioned Auditorium with a seating capacity of 750 people. The Management has made a massive investment in greening the environment. The trees, bushes, and hedges all over, lush green parks & lawns, royal palms fountains, water falls, water bodies etc. have made the workplace eco-friendly, relaxing, and help maintain work-life balance. A noteworthy initiative of the Company is in the creation of a ‘Centre of Excellence’ in collaboration with the premier University, BITS, Pilani, to promote academic study and research for industry-centric knowledge and skill upgradation.
