The Fletcher Jones Foundation The Foundation was incorporated in 1969 in the State of California as a part of Fletcher Jones’ estate plan. Fletcher Jones was 39 years old. At the time, he was more engaged in building his business than in focusing on charitable activities. Although he did express some interest in supporting education both at the high school and college level, he never formulated any plan or gave any specific directions with regard to the priorities of his Foundation. After the death of Fletcher Jones in 1972, the original Trustees of the Foundation decided that support of the private colleges and universities in California should be their primary emphasis. That policy has been reaffirmed by subsequent Trustees and continues to this day. The Fletcher Jones Foundation is governed by a distinguished eleven member Board of Trustees drawn from the ranks of business, law, finance, banking, education and government. The Foundation is administered by a two-person staff, based at its office in Pasadena.
