OCM is an active manager which utilizes a structured investment process combining top-down analyses, manager selection and monitoring with risk management. They construct portfolios utilizing a top-down global macroeconomic view, employing quant tools to measure the value added by their funds both in the specific strategy and at the fund level.The firm sources hedge funds based on the market experience and network of contacts of their senior managers, utilizing a proprietary rating scale to rate qualitative/strategic, quantitative and operational dimensions.OCM runs stress tests to determine how their underlying funds (and funds of funds) would react under significant market disruptions. Based on the risk parameters of different funds of funds, they have a minimum and maximum allocation to each hedge fund that they can own.The firm use a proprietary tool called Aggregated Risk Tool to break down returns and risks and provide a better understanding of how beta and alpha are present in each fund.The Co-CIO has the final say on investment decisions
