Biography

Oliver Brahmst is White & Case's Global Co-Head of Private Equity. His practice focuses on domestic and cross-border acquisitions and divestitures, including joint ventures and equity co-investments.

Oliver has built up a significant track record in the resolution of complex cross-border transactions, having worked on some of the most innovative and exciting deals of the last ten years.

Often working across multiple jurisdictions, Oliver has advised on high-profile transactions and taken a major role in such landmark deals as the representation of CVC Capital Partners in leading a consortium in their acquisition of a controlling stake in Alvogen, and the representation of Nordic Capital and Avista Capital Partners' in their US$4.1 billion acquisition of the ConvaTec business unit from Bristol-Myers Squibb. Requiring the coordination of our Doha, London, Brussels and Paris offices alongside Oliver’s team in New York, Oliver’s recent deals also include the representation of Qatar Investment Authority and Kingdom Holding Company of Saudi Arabia in the US$2.9 billion stock-and-cash sale of FRHI, the Canada-based parent company of luxury hotel brands Fairmont, Raffles and Swissôtel, to AccorHotels.

Oliver regularly leads legal teams in delivering innovative solutions to seemingly intractable challenges, such as his representation of Pilot Travel Centers during their acquisition of Flying J's core travel plaza and truck stop businesses. The deal took place at a critical point in Flying J's bankruptcy and, in the face of immense time constraints, Oliver and his colleagues created a framework for a transaction that simultaneously advanced Pilot Travel Centers' objectives and gained the support of the bankruptcy court and of Flying J's creditors' committee. The deal was described by The M&A Advisor as a "deal of the decade."

As a mark of the esteem in which he is held in the financial and legal community, Oliver is named as a leading individual for M&A and Private Equity in Chambers, Euromoney and The Legal 500.

Osgoode Hall Law School students may participate in a number of clinical and intensive programs, including the Community and Legal Aid Services Program (CLASP), the Poverty Law Intensive at Parkdale Community Legal Services, the Criminal Law Intensive, the Innocence Project, and the Osgoode Business Clinic.[5] According to the Official Guide to Canadian Law Schools, Osgoode Hall Law School has the most extensive range of clinical programs in Canada. The primary student government at Osgoode is the Legal and Literary Society. Osgoode Hall Law School is particularly known for its leading role in the areas of constitutional law, the Charter and human rights, and international law. (Peter Hogg, Brian Slattery, Patrick J. Monahan, Jean-Gabriel Castel) Some of the world's most important legal scholars teach at Osgoode, including Leslie Green who holds the University of Oxford's statutory Chair in Philosophy of Law.
