Biography

Nick Verwolf is a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and his practice covers general commercial law and litigation, including contracts, antitrust and unfair trade practices, products liability, construction, environmental and insurance coverage, as well as personal injury (including maritime) and white-collar criminal law. His clients include major oil companies, lumber manufacturers, multinational companies and fishing companies.

Practice Highlights

* Representing electronics company based in Japan in defense of multiple antitrust actions, including a national class action and various actions by individual companies, arising out of price fixing claims in the LCD industry.
* Represented a large utility in defending against power supply contract termination by a major power purchaser
* Defended a power company and obtained summary judgment on all claims in a suit alleging restraint of trade, conspiracy, attempting to monopolize and monopolizing access to major natural gas pipeline. Affirmed on appeal on all claims.
* Represented processing plant owner resulting in a $7 million recovery against an engineering firm
* Lead counsel for major oil company defending more than $500 million in claims arising out of major pipeline explosion, including claims for wrongful death, personal injuries, business interruption, federal and state environmental claims and federal criminal charges
* Represented claimant in assertion of damage claims of several million dollars against an ore processor for environmental harm under CERCLA and state law
* Defense of claims for personal injury arising out of alleged product defects and negligence
* Representation before the ICC International Court of Arbitration in Paris, France, involving claims against a French/Swedish company for failure of diesel engines in a huge fishing vessel. Recovery of several million dollars for the client
* Compelled arbitration in Canada of claims against a Canadian company by a U.S. corporation involving Russian logs and lumber manufactured from the logs in China and entered judgment on the arbitration award in the U.S. court
* Representation of U.S. company regarding joint venture dispute with Chinese company in arbitration before the SIAC
