Biography

Nathan
first joined Citigroup East Africa in 2000 in the Compliance Department where he rose to
Country Compliance Coordinator. He has been involved in all cutting edge transactions in the 4 Citi
EA Cluster Countries: Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Zambia, in addition to counseling senior manage
-
ment and the Boards of the Citi Legal Vehicles on legal matters. Nathan was appointed Corporate
Finance Counsel for Citigroup Africa Division (now SSA) in August, 2010, in addition to his duties as
EA General Counsel. He manages a staff complement of 2 direct reports and multiple external
counsel relationships. Nathan was previously a Senior Associate at Salim Dhanji & Company
Advocates (now dissolved) and was a Foreign Associate at Davis Polk & Wardwell (Best American law
firm 2003) in New York. Nathan holds an LL.M. from Harvard Law School, an LL.B. from the University
of Nairobi and a Diploma from the Kenya School of Law. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of
Arbitrators, a Certified Public Secretary, a member of the Law Society of Kenya, East Africa Law
Society, and is admitted to practice in the State of New York in the USA, as well as a member of the
New York State Bar Association and the American Bar Association. Nathan is the Founder-Secretary
of the Harvard Club of Kenya and he has been Board Member of the Citi Micro-Entrepreneurship
Awards Committee, Trustee of the Citi Kenya Provident Fund and has represented Citi in other
forums as well as being a participant in numerous community events.
