The fund targets companies throughout Michigan that are creating new technologies in (1) advanced automotive, manufacturing and materials (2) alternative energy (3) homeland security and defense and (4) life sciences. Loans range from $10,000 to $50,000. Companies must be pre-revenue and have the rights (ownership or license) to innovative technology or be seeking a strong IP position. Loans may not be made to a publicly-held company, but may be utilized to spin technology out of a public company and establish a new private entity. Companies must also have potential for rapid growth and annual sales of over $10 million within 5 years.The Eastern Washtenaw Micro Loan Fund seeks investments in innovative, high-growth start-up companies throughout Michigan's eastern Washtenaw County. The fund focuses on investments in companies as they near commercial viability. The fund looks for companies in the following sectors: (1) advanced automotive, manufacturing, and materials (2) alternative energy (3) homeland security and defense (4) the life sciences (5) information technology (6) Web 2.0 and social networking and (7) business-to-business and business-to-consumer technology services and products.The Ann Arbor Micro Loan Fund seeks to invest in innovative, high-growth start-up companies in the city of Ann Arbor as they near commercial viability.
