Individualized learning programs and distance education courses are some of the options Empire State College offers its predominantly adult student-body. Located in Saratoga Springs, New York, Empire State has learning centers throughout upstate New York and the New York metropolitan area as well as online to better serve the primary population it serves: the adult learner. Bachelor's, associate's and master's degrees are offered in the Arts, Sciences, Education, Business, Nursing and Human Services, among others. In order to best serve the adult learner and the varied interests and experiences they bring to the table, Empire State also offers a number of interdisciplinary study and independent study programs as well. A comprehensive student center supports students in all aspects of their education, from assessment to academic and career planning. Admission is based on submission of an application, proof of a high school diploma or GED, and evaluation of transcripts. Students whose grades fall below average may, however, still have the chance to be admitted by simply providing an explanation of the circumstances leading up to their low performance. Additionally, unemployed workers and low-income students may apply for special consideration and assistance.

Career History
Executive Director
2002 - Current

The New York Community Bank Foundation is proud to help to improve the quality of life for our neighbors on Long Island and Queens, with grants totaling over $21 million dollars to date. We have been able to assist with diverse needs - from health-related organizations to education, community services, and cultural activities. We believe our personal relationships with not-for-profits are part of how we are able to be effective. The time we spend answering questions and providing guidance results in stronger candidates for future funding not only from NYCB Foundation, but other foundations and businesses as well. Recently, we have been focusing on a few issues that we feel are critical on Long Island such as the nursing shortage, assisting first-time home buyers, and the environment. By concentrating grants in these areas we hope to make a significant impact. You can learn more about our past grants and our guidelines as you continue through the web site. We thank Long Island’s philanthropic community for your hard work and wish all of you continued success.
