Biography

Madelyn Vega-Ortiz joined us from Cal State San Bernardino where she served as a Title IX investigator. She comes with the highest recommendations both personally and professionally. One of her letters of recommendation noted the caring ways in which she supported students and staff throughout the investigative process.

Ms. Vega-Ortiz is originally from Puerto Rico where she received her legal education. She is a licensed attorney in multiple jurisdictions and has both practiced law and served as a judge.

She also has a background in journalism and worked as a television anchor and reporter in Telemundo/NBC’s New York bureau. She was nominated for 4 Emmy’s in 2007 and 2008. She has authored several books as well as many newspaper articles and columns and taught Spanish at the Adventist High School in Rio Piedras in Puerto Rico.

La Sierra offers undergraduate, graduate and doctoral level degrees and is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and the Adventist Accrediting Association (AAA). Founded in 1922 as La Sierra Academy, it later became La Sierra College, a liberal arts college, and then was merged into Loma Linda University in 1967. In 1990, La Sierra separated from Loma Linda University to become an independent institution.
