Founded in 1999 by the late Thomas Watson, Janney Montgomery Scott LLC (JMS) is a full-service financial services firm and registered broker/dealer headquartered in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The firm is a subsidiary of Independence Square Properties LLC, itself a subsidiary of Penn Mutual Insurance Co. Their ultimate parent is Harleysville Mutual Insurance Co. JMS is a member of the NYSE, the SIPC and FINRA. The firm provides comprehensive financial advice and services to individual, corporate and institutional investors. Their primary coverage verticals include the consumer, technology, financials and infrastructure sectors.

JMS-IM offers investment advisory services primarily through their Wealth Management Department. Their investment advisory services generally fall within one of five broad business lines: (1) fee-based advisory \"wrap\" programs (2) traditional discretionary investment management services through Janney or their Janney Capital Management subsidiary (3) financial planning services (4) retirement plan investment advisory services and (5) consulting services. The Wealth Management Department and Janney Capital Management personnel work closely with the firm's Private Client Group, including the firm's Financial Advisors, in providing investment advisory services to clients. JMS-IM provides investment advisory services on a discretionary, nondiscretionary and model portfolio basis.

JCM’s approach to security analysis is based primarily on fundamental research. The firm’s investment committee, comprised of their investment personnel, meets to evaluate global and domestic macroeconomic trends and the opportunities they present, and to identify asset allocation, asset class and sector weightings, strategic and tactical portfolio strategies and security selection. The investment committee’s focuses are on investment monitoring, rebalancing, and portfolio management. JCM’s investment professionals will take into account factors such as current yield, price attractiveness, earnings and dividend growth potential, and economic, political and sociological factors, as applicable. The firm’s principal sources of information include issuer-prepared information (annual reports, proxy materials, press releases, etc.); SEC filings; management interviews and contacts; industry trade association statistics; government data; and financial publications. Additional research materials are obtained from equity research departments of other financial institutions and independent research services.
