Biography

Judith A. Hasko is a partner in the Corporate Department of Latham & Watkins' Silicon Valley office and the global Chair of the Life Sciences Licensing Group. Ms. Hasko's practice focuses on representing companies developing biotechnology, pharmaceutical, medical device and diagnostic products, and investors in such companies, in a wide range of technology-based commercial transactions. She has advised such clients in connection with their matters regarding:

Corporate partnering
Joint ventures
Asset purchases
Spin-outs
Licensing transactions
Distribution agreements
Manufacturing agreements
Profit-sharing arrangements
Royalty stream purchases and sales

Ms. Hasko is admitted to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. She is a member of the Licensing Executives Society and is a Certified Licensing Professional (CLP). She has co-authored several scientific publications in the areas of sensory and cardiovascular biology. She is also a frequent lecturer and speaker on life sciences commercial transactions at legal and industry conferences and seminars, as well as at academic institutions, including the University of California at Berkeley and Stanford University.

Advising OncoMed in its collaboration with Bayer Schering Pharma, valued at more than US$1.4 billion and recipient of the BayBio Pantheon 2010 DiNA Award
Representing Prothena Biosciences Inc. and Neotope Biosciences Limited in a license, development, and commercialization agreement with F. Hoffmann-La Roche Ltd and Hoffmann-La Roche Inc., to develop and commercialize antibodies that target alpha-synuclein, including PRX002, Prothena's monoclonal antibody for the treatment of Parkinson's disease
Representing Novo A/S in a royalty purchase and sale agreement under which Novo has the right to purchase for up to US$125 million a revenue interest in Fovista
Advising Watson Pharmaceuticals in an agreement for development of biosimilar products with a public global biotechnology company.
Representing MAP Pharmaceuticals in its US$900 million co-development and co-promotion agreement with AstraZeneca and its US$197 million co-promotion agreement with Allergan for a migraine treatment
Representing Nektar Therapeutics in its agreement with Bayer HealthCare to develop and commercialize NKTR-061, an inhaled amikacin for the treatment of pneumonias, which may yield up to US$175 million in payments to Nektar
Representing numerous other clients including Tularik, Corgentech, CV Therapeutics, Abgenix and Gilead in various strategic transactions
