John W. Benson (Class III) has been a director of the Company since 2003. Mr. Benson retired from 3M Company in February 2003 where he served in various capacities for 35 years. Prior to his retirement, he served as Executive Vice President, Health Care Markets. Mr. Benson previously served on the Board of Regents at St. Olaf College. On December 17, 2015, John W. Benson, a member of the Board of Directors of SurModics, Inc., informed the Company of his intention to retire from its Board of Directors effective at the conclusion of the Company's 2016 Annual Meeting of Shareholders to be held on February 17, 2016.
