John Karayan, JD PhD
Dr. Karayan is one of the “Big 3” full time accounting professors who have joined Woodbury University over the past 3 years. Like the others, he has had senior level real world experience in both private industry and public accounting as well as many years of experience teaching, publishing, and serving the accounting profession as a university professor. Formerly Director of Taxes of a New York Stock Exchange-listed high tech multinational (which was then one of the world’s largest software concerns), Dr. Karayan has remained active outside academia with service on public and private Boards, as well as testifying as an expert witness in complex business litigation. Professor Karayan has co-authored several books on taxation – notably Strategic Business Tax Planning -- and published articles in journals ranging from The Tax Advisor to the Marquette Sports Law Review. He also has spoken before professional groups such as the World Trade Institute, the Tax Executives Institute, the California Continuing Education of the Bar, and the California Society of CPAs.
