Biography

Jill Markland
Chapter Council President
Lawrenceburg, IN

Jill Markland has served as the President of the Children’s Tumor Foundation's Indiana Chapter since 2007. In addition, she has served as the national Chapter Council Secretary for four years. Professionally, Jill has worked for Procter & Gamble for 15 years where she coordinates global training and events along with managing multiple internal use websites and newsletters in the area of Corporate Research & Development Innovation Capability. Jill and her husband, Rodney, have their own real estate business including a 21 unit apartment complex that they manage together as well. Jill spent four years volunteering for her community sorority, Tri-Kappa, where they raised money for local organizations, and is active in her church. Jill began volunteering with the Children’s Tumor Foundation when her son, Jesse, was diagnosed with NF1.

Jill became a very active fundraiser for the Children’s Tumor Foundation when she first heard the words “no treatment, no cure” and knew her child was suffering in horrific pain. Jill and her family have organized NF Endurance events, NF Walks, a Cupid’s Undie Run, Racing4Research events, an annual "Haunt 4 A Cure" Halloween party, and a spring and a winter carnival. The Marklands also participated in the bicycle "Race Across America," and they apply for grants and take advantage of any other opportunity they come across that will raise funds for NF research. One of Jill’s proudest moments was at 2008’s Racing4Research event at Daytona International Speedway. A cameraman saw her oldest son, Blake, then six years old, wearing a Children’s Tumor Foundation hat. The cameraman knelt down and put a camera on Blake and handed him a microphone. He asked him to talk about the Children’s Tumor Foundation and Blake gave a fabulous five minute, on-the-spot, televised interview on why it was important to donate to the Foundation and help all the people like his little brother with NF.
