Meritage Capital provides investment advisory and/or supervisory services to funds which are either US-domiciled limited partnerships available to taxable US investors or Cayman Islands exempt companies available to non-US investors and US non-taxable investors. The funds offer a combination of risk-adjusted return profiles, diversification, and cost-effectiveness for many investors including those who may not otherwise be able to access the underlying funds directly. Meritage provides investment advisory and sub-advisory services on a discretionary or non-discretionary to SMAs of various types of advisory clients mainly with respect to investments in private pooled investment vehicles and separately managed accounts managed and/or operated by third party investment managers. They may also provide investment advice with respect to direct investments in securities, financial instruments and other assets. , as set forth in the investment management agreement with a client. Meritage provides investment advisory and sub-advisory services to registered investment companies, including open-end and closed-end funds. Each registered fund is structured as a fund-of-funds that invests in other private investment funds and/or SMAs accounts operated and/or managed by third party investment managers. Registered funds may access managers by utilizing structured investment products. Registered funds may also invest directly in financial instruments (including fixed income securities, ETFs, swaps, futures, options, commodity interests and other derivatives) and in affiliated funds.Meritage offers five distinct investment strategies which include Long/Short Equity, Absolute Return, Global Macro, Opportunistic, and Liquid Alternative strategies. Each of Meritage's investment strategies seeks diversification of risk through use of a multi-manager investment philosophy. Within these investment strategies, the firm categorizes managers into additional underlying investment strategies. A fund, SMA or registered fund may utilize Meritage's strategies or other investment strategies, in combination or separately. The underlying managers also may be involved in a variety of strategies, including but not limited to: long/short equity, credit related, distressed investing, managed futures, commodities, arbitrage, relative value, short-biased, long only or long-biased, quantitative, volatility, global macro and fixed income. Meritage and the underlying managers may invest through both long and short positions in a wide range of securities, other financial instruments, private investments and other assets throughout the world including, but not limited to equity, MLPs, private equity, debt, bonds and other fixed-income securities, loans and loan participations, ABS, currencies, commodities, futures, forward contracts, warrants, options, swaps and other derivative instruments. They may also employ leverage and engage in various hedging strategies. To enhance the overall risk/return profile of a fund or SMA, Meritage may, at times, invest directly in securities, financial instruments and other assets, including swaps, futures, options and other OTC derivatives as direct overlays to the portfolio,
