Biographical Sketch:
Born in Boston Massachusetts, James graduated with a B.S. from the University of Miami and a Master's degree in Biology from Harvard University. He teaches courses in General Biology, Anatomy and Physiology, and Marine Biology at Cambridge College, and holds teaching fellowships in Comparative Vertebrate Anatomy and Ichthyology at Harvard University. In May 2005 he was appointed Assistant Dean of Undergraduate Programs at Cambridge College.
James has traveled extensively, and has given talks throughout the US, the Caribbean, and Southeast Asia on topics ranging from air-breathing fish diversity to reef conservation and the challenges of eco-tourism. His current research interests include terrestrial behavior in air-breathing fishes, shark population dynamics, and the importance of eelgrass in supporting larval communities.
James is a certified SCUBA instructor with over 1000 dives spanning the Caribbean islands, Central America, Southeast Asia, Canada, and Bermuda.
James also serves as the Executive Director and Director of Research for the New England Seacoast Institute and is a doctoral candidate at McGill University.
