James Doyle

James Doyle is Counsel in the Washington, D.C. office of Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP. James regularly represents lenders and borrowers in banking and credit transactions including the structuring, negotiating and documenting finance transactions. He also has experience with acquisition financings, syndicated bank loans, debt restructurings and other commercial lending matters in a variety of industries.

James’ experience has included the representation of:

* Fieldwood Energy, a portfolio company of Riverstone Holdings, in a multi-pronged refinancing transaction and in the financing for its acquisition of SandRidge Energy’s Gulf of Mexico business
* JLL Partners and Koninklijke DSM N.V. in the $1.85 billion financing for their acquisition of Patheon and merger with DSM Pharmaceutical Products
* Underwriters in the $1.925 billion committed financing for the acquisition of the Jonah Field natural gas assets of Encana Corp. by an affiliate of TPG Capital, Maverick American Natural Gas
* KKR and Veresen in the financing for their Veresen Midstream Limited Partnership joint venture
* KSL Capital Partners in the financing for its $1.5 billion acquisition of Intrawest Resorts Holdings
* Genesee & Wyoming in obtaining $2.3 billion of financing for its acquisition of RailAmerica
* Microsoft Corporation in its $5 billion senior unsecured credit agreement

James received his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law in 2008 and his B.S.E., magna cum laude, from Princeton University in 2002. He is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and New York. James is also a board member at Excel Automotive Institute in Washington, D.C.
