Ilaria Filippi is an Associate at Simmons & Simmons. General Experience
Ilaria is an associate in the EU, competition and regulatory group. She has experience in advising on all areas of EU and UK competition law in behavioural, litigious and transactional matters across a range of markets. Ilaria's experience includes advising clients in respect of abuses of dominant position, cartel investigations, anticompetitive agreements and practices and other commercial agreemen ts including joint production, licensing, R&D and distribution agreements. She has advised both domestic and international clients from a range of industry sectors, including pharmaceuticals, energy, construction, financial services and consumer goods.

advising an international trading business to obtain merger clearance from the European Commission in relation to a sale of part of its business
advising a large construction company on the OFT's investigation into cover pricing and on a subsequent appeal to the Competition Appeal Tribunal

Background
Ilaria joined Simmons & Simmons in 2011 as an associate in the EU, competition and regulatory practice having previously gained significant experience at a US law firm. After having studied international business and economics she began her career as an assistant economist specialising in trade and competition economics, advising international clients on the application of WTO law and in respect of trade defence instruments (antidumping, antisubsidy and safeguards), whilst retraining to become a solicitor. Ilaria speaks Italian, French and Spanish in addition to English.
