Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA) is the United Arab Emirates-based Sovereign Wealth Fund which was established in 1976 with the mission of securing and maintaining the current and future prosperity of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi through the prudent management of the Emirate's investment assets.Wholly-owned by the Government of Abu Dhabi, the Authority replaced the Financial Investments Board, created in 1967, as part of the Abu Dhabi Ministry of Finance. Their funding sources derive from oil, specifically from the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company and their subsidiaries, which pay a dividend to help fund ADIA and their sister fund, Abu Dhabi Investment Council.Based in Abu Dhabi, ADIA manages a global, diversified portfolio of holdings across sectors, geographies and asset classes including public listed equities, fixed-income, real estate and private equity. They aim to deliver sustained long-term financial returns and do not seek to actively manage the companies in which they invest.ADIA's Board of Directors, comprised of senior government officials appointed by Ruler's Decree, has absolute control over their offices and the discharge of their business. Their departments are guided by investment and strategy committees that oversee the investment process and provide expert advice across ADIA.
