Biography

Deborah Carstens is a Scholarship Foundation campaign cabinet member, an Arizona Scarlet & Gold committee member and past Chair and a major proponent of the Rockmore Society. She is the widow of veteran Marine, William Carstens, who remained active thru out his life with his Basic School 2-56 colleagues. Deborah grew up in San Diego, California. She attended San Diego State University; was first in her family to graduate from college. One of her most relished honors was her selection as Distinguished Alumni for the College of Arts and Letters in 2004. Deb retired from a real estate career in 2000, which began in her hometown of San Diego, California and culminated handling sales and marketing of the Carstens’ land development projects near Telluride, Colorado.

Deb splits her time between Paradise Valley, Arizona and Washington DC. Managing Carstens Family Funds, which is active in three states, fulfills her philanthropic endeavors. The Funds’ focus is youth, education, and character-building. Deborah has traveled to all seven continents and lived in Geneva, Switzerland from 1994 to 1997. Her daughter, Lindsay and two granddaughters, who live in Virginia, bring particular joy.
