Profile
Ms. Smith is a member of the Real Estate Department and has practiced in the area of commercial and residential real estate focusing on finance, acquisition, leasing and development for over 15 years. Cyd was previously Assistant General Counsel for The Ashforth Company, a national fully integrated real estate company with development, management, construction and brokerage operations. Over the years, Cyd has negotiated hundreds of leases covering several million square feet of commercial office and retail space. She currently represents several landlords with properties in excess of two million square feet of space and national retail tenants in connection with ground leases, shopping center retail leases and construction agreements. Cyd takes a “hands on” approach in her representation of clients. She also represents developers, general contractors, trade contractors and individuals in connection with the acquisition, financing, construction and development of residential real estate.
In June 2009, Cyd was retained to represent a national commercial office portfolio in excess of $250,000,000 in connection with its lease and lease restructure transactions.
In August 2009, Cyd led the firm's successful negotiation of a tax certiorari settlement for an office park in excess of 750,000 square feet in Westchester County, New York, with an overall thirty percent reduction in taxes and a tax refund in excess of $800,000.
