Provost & Chief Academic Officer at Cuyahoga Community College

Biography

Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®) today announced that Craig Foltin will become the College’s provost and chief academic officer after being named executive vice president of Access, Learning and Success.

Foltin had served in the role on an interim basis since December. During that time, he has overseen the College’s efforts to increase student success and completion rates and led the development of a new strategic plan for the institution. He brokered early negotiations of a new three-year contract with the College’s faculty, which was approved by the union in May.

“Craig’s commitment to Tri-C’s mission and the success of our students is unmatched,” said Alex Johnson, president of Tri-C.
Foltin came to Tri-C in 2007 as the College’s chief financial officer. Under his leadership, Tri-C increased services and student success rates while reducing operational costs throughout the institution.

His faculty experience includes more than two decades as a part-time instructor at Cleveland State University and seven years as an adjunct faculty member at Tri-C. He also has lectured nationally on the topic of state and local government performance.

Foltin has won numerous professional awards and has twice been recognized by the College with its President’s Award, the top institutional honor available to Tri-C employees.

Prior to coming to Tri-C, Foltin served as the elected mayor and auditor of the city of Lorain.

Foltin earned his doctorate in business administration from Cleveland State University. He also holds a master’s degree from Cleveland State and a bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University.

He replaces Belinda Miles, who left the College at the end of 2014 to become president of Westchester Community College in New York.
