Biography

Raised on a dairy farm in the English countryside, Ms. Triefus arrived in the U.S. after spending a year following high school in New Delhi, India, managing quality control for an American fashion company. She received her bachelors degree from the University of Maryland, where she ran the Public Interest Resource Group's Bottle Bill initiative. After earning a Masters degree in Media Ecology from New York University, Ms. Triefus joined Tender Planet Marketing, where she developed environmental educational opportunities for corporations such as ACE Hardware and Thompson Vitamin, before moving to Markham Novell Communications to create events for various luxury brands including Krug Champagne and Remy Martin. She later started her own company representing English fashion designers, and then inaugurated the Hands-On volunteering program at UJA Federation of New York. Ms. Triefus joined the Blacksmith Institute board in 2012.

myFace exists to transform patients’ lives by funding medical procedures and research performed at the Institute of Reconstructive Plastic Surgery at NYU Langone Medical Center to repair facial disfigurement, and by providing social, psychological and financial support to families in need. myFace, formerly the National Foundation for Facial Reconstruction, was founded in 1951 to address the all-too-visible plight of those with facial difference by assuring them access to the comprehensive and highly personalized team care at the IRPS. myFace provides care to all those who request treatment, regardless of the type or severity of the anomaly, the length of treatment, or the family’s ability to afford care.

Masters in Media Ecology

Founded in 1831, New York University is now one of the largest private universities in the United States.
