FMR may use a variety of methods of security analysis in managing client assets to select investments including fundamental analysis, quantitative analysis and cyclical analysis. They may also use general macro-economic analysis as a component of its security analysis methods. In addition to relying on public financial statement information, the firm may use extensive corporate visits and interviews with issuer management teams in conducting research. When it comes to the management of the client assets according to the investment objectives, FMR may use a variety of investment strategies including, but not limited to, investing in stocks and other public and private equity securities, bonds and other debt securities of all types and repurchase agreements for those securities, real estate related investments of all types, derivatives, currency spot and forward trading, other investment funds, including exchange traded funds and FMR's or its affiliates' central funds. Factors that the firm considers when investing in underlying funds include fund performance, a fund manager's experience and investment style, fund company infrastructure, and fund characteristics such as expense ratio, asset size, and portfolio turnover. Strategic Advisers pursues a disciplined, benchmark-guided approach to portfolio construction, and monitors and adjusts allocations to underlying funds as necessary to control overall fund risk and pursue appropriate returns. For registered investment companies, the firm may invest a fund's assets in a combination of securities, including derivatives, affiliated and unaffiliated domestic and international equity funds, investment-grade, high yield and international fixed-income funds, short-term funds, alternative investment class funds, and ETFs and closed-end funds. For plan design, Strategic Advisers will chose from among Fidelity-managed funds that are eligible to be included in the Plan Design service. When selecting active funds, the firm may evaluate performance relative to peers, manager tenure and style alignment and volatility.
