Biography

Carol Harrison was born into a family of nine children, having three brothers and five sisters. She has two children, Becky and Scott, of Fort Lauderdale, two stepchildren and ten grandchildren. Carol enjoys being with her family, friends and the many people she has met working in charitable organizations.

Currently, Carol is president of Harrison Industries. She serves on the board of the Ben F. Harrison Foundation, a charitable organization founded in 1977. The foundation supports the Florida Grand Opera, The Henderson Mental Health Center, the 1000+ Club, the University of Miami-Miller School of Medicine for Women’s Health, The Broward County Library, the Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama and Nova Southeastern University.

Carol is on the board of trustees and a good standing member of the First Presbyterian Church of Fort Lauderdale. She also serves on the board of Nova Southeastern University and the Broward Center of Performing Arts. Carol is involved in the Boys and Girls Club of Broward County, The Symphony of The Americas, The Alabama Sports Festival Foundation, The Sheriffs advisory board, and The Healthy Mother-Healthy Baby organization, recently accepting honors as Mother of the year for this organization. Carol was honored as the Grand Diva for the Opera Society, Women of the Year for 1000+ Club in 2006 and 2013, also honored by Henderson Mental Health.

In 2010 Carol and her family received news that her grandson Hunter, then age 7 has a condition called Neurofibromatosis type 2 (NF2). It is an extremely rare condition characterized with bilateral tumors affecting his hearing, balance, vision, spinal cord and nervous system. Currently there is no treatment or cure for this condition. Carol and her daughter Becky have begun a fundraising effort for the research for the Children’s Tumor Foundation (CTF).

Carol is a highly respected person in the Fort Lauderdale community. She and her late husband Ben Harrison have given their generous support to many charities though out the community for more than 30 years.
