Career History
Managing Director

AT Investment Advisors' (ATIA) investment approach is based on the belief that the best way to control risk across portfolios is through broad diversification among asset classes, investment strategies and styles. The firm creates diversified portfolios, the core of which are invested across the following asset classes: investment grade bonds, large-cap stocks, mid-cap stocks, small-cap stocks, international stocks, and alternative investments including hedge funds, private equity and real estate, as appropriate.ATIA carefully selects investments from proprietary and external offerings. Within asset classes, they generally favor diversified strategies to control security-specific risk. In addition, they are in favor of active investment management versus passive. The firm's asset allocation focus is strategic and incremental, rather than tactical or dramatic. They do not chase returns or attempt to outsmart the market over short periods of time. Given the general efficiency of the capital markets, the firm is willing to be early to add value over the longer term. ATIA also seeks to add significant value by identifying asset classes where relative over- and under-valuation exists. To make asset allocation decisions, the firm favors reasoned judgment over optimization models or analytics but they do believe optimization tools can provide a quantitative framework to help challenge their assumptions and discipline their conclusions.ATIA offers access to a full array of asset classes. They offer internally and externally managed investment strategies. Their internally managed core strategies include: cash management, taxable fixed-income, tax-exempt fixed-income, US equity large-cap core growth, US equity income, US equity mid-cap growth, global equity multi-cap value, international equity and MLPs. Atlantic Trust's externally managed Multi-Manager Investment Program (MMIP) acts as a manager-of-managers in traditional and alternative asset classes including US equities, international equities, hedge funds, private equity, venture capital and private real estate.ATIA Trust manages customized bond portfolios that emphasize quality and intermediate-term maturities. They tend to limit risk in bond portfolios and concentrate it instead in other asset classes where the risk-reward proposition is more favorable.
