Biography

Brian Shipman is the CIO of Heritage Auctions based in Dallas, Texas. His fourteen-year career there has been instrumental in growing a small company of 80 people and $90 million in annual sales to over 400 employees and over $850 million annually with offices around the United States and in Europe.

Brian joined Heritage Auctions in 1999 as Chief Internet Officer with the specific task of helping Heritage transform its prestigious physical auction business into a thriving, on-line auction platform. In addition, Brian developed strategies for digital marketing, SEO, and online customer service.

The explosive growth that followed Heritage’s online success has led the auction house to expand its initial core business in numismatic collectibles to comic books, sports memorabilia, books, manuscripts, movie posters, nature and science, as well as luxury categories like fine art, wine, jewelry, timepieces, handbags, and other accessories.

Brian’s role has since expanded to Chief Information Officer, where he oversees website and enterprise application development, network operations and security, data services, and project management. He also leads and serves on teams to manage strategies in social media, marketing, fraud prevention, and company culture/policy/goals.

Brian is an avid puzzle solver, and once appeared on the television show That’s Incredible in the 2nd Annual Rubik’s Cube speed solving contest where he placed fourth in the nation.

Brian holds a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Texas A&M University as well as a Masters of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He has written three books in the Christian inspiration category and contributed to many other works.

Brian is married with two children and resides in Waxahachie, Texas.
