Biography

Brett Cassidy is a corporate partner in Latham & Watkins’ London office where he has practised law since 2000. Mr. Cassidy was previously in the Los Angeles office and has practised law with the firm since 1998.

He is a member of the firm’s Capital Markets Practice and Mergers & Acquisitions Practice. Mr. Cassidy’s practice focuses on capital market securities matters and leveraged finance, which to date has included a variety of public and private securities offerings (including Rule 144A offerings), leverage and acquisition financing, bridge financing, restructuring and tender offers, exchange offers and other liability management transactions with an emphasis on representing investment banking clients and private equity portfolio companies which relate to high yield debt products. He also advises corporate clients concerning compliance with registration and reporting provisions of the US Securities Act of 1933 and the US Securities Exchange Act of 1934.

Mr. Cassidy is mentioned as a leading lawyer for high yield in the most recent editions of The Legal 500 UK, Chambers UK, IFLR 1000 and PLC Which Lawyer. In addition Mr. Cassidy is described by Chambers UK as having "watertight technical knowledge of the products in this area" and by IFLR 1000 as being "creative and very gifted."

Deutsche Bank and Credit Agricole CIB as representative of the initial purchasers on the senior secured notes, high yield and PIK bridge facilities and the related take-out offering of senior notes and PIK notes of Polkometel S.A., the proceeds of which were used to finance the largest leverage buyout in Europe since 2008
HSBC, J.P. Morgan, RBS and another leading financial institution as representatives of the initial purchasers on the offering of senior secured notes of Cable and Wireless Plc
Citigroup and Credit Suisse as representative of the initial purchasers on the offering of senior notes of Eco-Bat Finance Plc

Vanderbilt Law Review

The Vanderbilt Law Review is published six times a year (in January, March, April, May, October, and November) by the Vanderbilt Law Review, Vanderbilt University Law School, 131 21st Av. S., Nashville, TN 37203. Law Review Member Selection: The Law Review selects new members in the spring of their first year. Students interested in Law Review membership are required to compete in a case comment competition following their spring final exams. Members are selected based on a combination of their case comment score and their first year grade point average. The Law Review selects thirty-two first year students annually. [Information on the Joint Case Competition] Transfer students may also become members. The Law Review conducts a transfer competition in the fall. Second year students may also write on to the Law Review. The write-on competition is conducted in the spring. [Information on the 2L Write-On Competition] Law Review Member Duties: Second year Law Review members have two principal duties. Second year students are required to assist the Managing Department in cite-checking professional and student pieces. Thorough and accurate completion of this duty is a requirement for membership. The Law Review also requires all second year members to write a student note. The note may be on any original American jurisprudential topic. Thoughtful, well-written, and innovative notes will be published by the Law Review. Third year members have the opportunity to serve on theLaw Review’s editorial board. Editorial positions are chosen in the spring of a member’s second year.
