Biography

Chief Technology Officer

Gan Boon Jin is responsible for advising the management on relevant innovation projects across the SMRT Group and oversees all technology development projects. He is also charged with acquiring operations and maintenance engineering capabilities required to raise and sustain the high levels of rail reliability and safety in SMRT.

Prior to SMRT, Boon Jin was with ST Kinetics (now known as ST Engineering Land Systems Ltd). His previous appointments included Chief Operating Officer and President, Defence Business and also the Chief Engineering Officer of the Land Systems arm of ST Engineering, where he assisted to build new engineering capabilities to support the evolving business needs of the Land Systems sector.

Boon Jin holds a Bachelor of Engineering with Honours in Mechanical Engineering from the National University of Singapore and a MSc in Military Vehicle Technology from the Royal Military College of Science (Cranfield University) in the United Kingdom. During his course of study at Cranfield University, he received the Royal Ordnance Trophy for being the best MSc student. He is a member of the Institute of Engineers, Singapore. In 1999, he was awarded the Public Administration Medal (Bronze) during his career with MINDEF.
