They invest through several private equity Funds including the Lone Star CRA Fund LP, the Lone Star Growth Capital LP, the Lone Star New Markets LP and the North Texas Opportunity Fund LP.Lone Star New Markets LP (LSNM) is a Certified Development Entity that receives a tax credit allocation under the US Treasury's New Market Tax Credits Program. The credit allows investors to receive 39% of their capital back in tax credits, spread over the life of the Fund (8% - 10% per year). LSNM co-invests with Lone Star Growth Capital LP (LSGC). LSGC is structured for non-taxable investors or individual investors subject to the alternative minimum tax, an 8% annual coupon from portfolio companies. LSNM and LSGC make $1 million to $10 million equity-oriented investments in private, middle-market companies located in low-to-moderate income areas of Texas.The North Texas Opportunity Fund invests in small to middle-market companies that are located in or willing to expand operations to underserved North Texas region markets, with a special emphasis on the southern sector of Dallas. It also invests in minority- or woman-owned businesses located anywhere in the North Texas region.The Lone Star CRA Fund LP invested in a leveraged purchase of metal components for a munitions company.
