Biography

Anthony R. Klein is the global Co-chair of Latham & Watkins’ Technology Transactions Practice, global Co-chair of the Information Technology – Hardware, Software & Services Industry Group and a member of the Emerging Companies Practice.

Mr. Klein’s practice focuses on strategic counseling and negotiating technology-related transactions worldwide for a wide range of emerging growth and established technology and service companies and their customers, particularly in the fields of:

Semiconductor design and manufacture
Medical devices
Clean technologies
Internet services
eCommerce
Software licensing
Retail and commercial products

As part of his practice, Mr. Klein routinely structures, prepares and negotiates US and cross-border agreements for:

Strategic alliances and joint ventures
OEM, VAR and other distribution and commercialization arrangements
Technology development
Technology and intellectual property transfers and licensing
Portal, branding and other cross-promotion and marketing agreements
Outsourcing
Hosting, fulfillment and other service provision arrangements
Manufacturing and supply agreements

Mr. Klein has been consistently recognized as a leading technology transactions attorney in the Chambers Global legal guide and The Legal 500 US Guide. He was also recognized as a highly recommended individual in the IAM250 guide for The World’s Leading Patent & Technology Licensing Lawyers for 2011-2012.

Advised Avago Technologies Limited in its acquisition of LSI Corporation, a cloud based software developer and computer semiconductor manufacturer
Advised Spansion in its acquisition of the Microcontroller and Analog business of Fujitsu Semiconductor, a designer and manufacturer of semiconductors.
Advising Lucasfilm regarding intellectual property matters in its acquisition by the Walt Disney Company
Representing AMD in the commercial and IP aspects of the establishment of GLOBALFOUNDRIES
Advising the Government of Abu Dhabi regarding the revision of its intellectual property laws to benefit the establishment of the semiconductor industry in Abu Dhabi
