Biography

Ann Marie StockAs Vice Provost for Academic and Faculty Affairs, Ann Marie Stock is responsible for university-wide program initiation and review, faculty mentoring and development, and assessment and accreditation. In this last role, she serves as the university's liaison to the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) and the State Council of Higher Education in Virginia (SCHEV). Stock oversees the William & Mary Washington Center and a range of initiatives designed to enhance teaching and learning at the institution.

Stock, who received a Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota, an M.A. from Purdue University and a B.A. from Hamline University, has been the recipient of numerous honors and awards including a Fulbright Research-Lecture Award to Costa Rica, a Rockefeller Fellowship in Museum Studies at the Smithsonian Center for Latino Initiatives, and grants from the MacArthur Foundation, National Endowment for the Humanities, and Social Science Research Council.

An exceptionally active and deeply engaged academic leader at William & Mary, Stock has contributed to university-wide priorities of internationalization, interdisciplinary inquiry and faculty-student research. She has directed three academic programs (Hispanic Studies, Film and Media Studies, and Latin American Studies), served as Associate and then Acting Dean of International Affairs in the Reves Center for International Studies, and most recently was selected as the inaugural W&M Libraries Faculty Scholar where she led the creation of an open access digital humanities repository devoted to Cuban cinema. Stock's efforts have been recognized in her nomination for the SCHEV Outstanding Faculty Award, and her selection as recipient of the Plumeri Award for Faculty Excellence.

A specialist on Cuban culture, Stock has authored and edited four books and more than 100 articles and chapters. She frequently consults with governmental agencies and non-governmental organizations, and shares her expertise with such media outlets as NBC, ABC, Virginia Public Radio and the New York Times.
