Amy Powell is President of Paramount Television and Digital Entertainment, the newly-created division of the studio, responsible for financing and developing television content for broadcast, premium cable, cable and online audiences. The division produces original programming, as well as television adaptations of select movies from the studio’s rich film library. Amazon, Comedy Central, EPIX, FOX, Hulu, HBO, MTV, Netflix, Nickelodeon, NBCUniversal’s Seeso, Spike, TNT and USA are among the studio’s networks and online distribution partners.

Amy led Paramount Television to its first-ever Emmy® awards with the breakthrough hit GREASE: LIVE, starring Julianne Hough, Aaron Tveit and Vanessa Hudgens. GREASE: LIVE received an impressive 10 nominations and won 5 Emmy® awards, the most nominations and wins ever received for a live televised musical, including Special Class Program and Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special (Thomas Kail and Alex Rudzinkski). The record-breaking telecast ranked as the No. 1 most social live musical event ever, and delivered more than 17 million viewers worldwide, with more than 14 million viewers on Fox in the U.S. (including L+3).

Under Amy’s purview, Paramount TV’s robust slate of programming with top distributors includes Tom Clancy’s JACK RYAN with Platinum Dunes and Skydance, from Carlton Cuse starring John Krasinski with Amazon; THIRTEEN REASONS WHY, based on the New York Times bestselling YA book by Jay Asher, directed by Oscar® winner Tom McCarthy and written by Pulitzer Prize® winner Brian Yorkey, who will executive produce along with Selena Gomez and McCarthy and MANIAC, a Cary Fukunaga-directed project starring Emma Stone and Jonah Hill– both with Anonymous Content and ordered straight-to-series for Netflix; SHOOTER, starring Ryan Philippe and Omar Epps airing fall 2016 on USA; crime drama BERLIN STATION, with Anonymous Content from New York Times best-selling spy novelist Olen Steinhauer set to premiere fall 2016 on EPIX; THE ALIENIST also with Anonymous Content from Emmy® Award-winner Cary Fukunaga, Academy Award® winner Eric Roth and Academy Award® nominee Hossein Amini executive producing for TNT; the Emmy® nominated Nickelodeon hit SCHOOL OF ROCK, based off of the film of the same name and currently in production on a sophomore season and BAJILLION DOLLAR PROPERTIE$ with NBCUniversal’s digital streaming platform Seeso, also in production on season two.

Amy and her team are working with the top creators and producers on and off screen to develop content for series, including Mark Wahlberg and Stephen Levinson, Martin Scorsese, Carlton Cuse, Tom McCarthy, Joe and Anthony Russo, Ridley Scott, Sam Raimi, Jerry Bruckheimer, Dustin Lance Black, Gale Anne Hurd, Neil LaBute, Alfonso Gomez-Rejon, Phyllis Nagy, Eric Roth and Paul Feig.

As President of Paramount Television, Amy has optioned series rights based on top-selling novels including the literary masterpiece, The Spy Who Came In From the Cold by John le Carré; the forthcoming four book series, Hilde Cracks the Case by 9 year old kid reporter Hilde Lysiak; Spoonbenders, a story centered on an eccentric family of magicians by Daryl Gregory; Tim Murphy's Christodora with Ira Sachs & Mauricio Zacharias set to adapt and Cary Fukunaga to produce through his company Parliament of Owls and All the Single Ladies, based on the New York Times best-selling book by Rebecca Traister. Paramount also announced the development of a series based on BATTLEFIELD, a popular and dynamic videogame.

From 2010-2015, Powell was President of Insurge Pictures, the studio’s micro-budget feature division that launched following the success of the first “PARANORMAL ACTIVITY” film, in which she played a key role through her digital marketing and “demand-it” distribution campaign. Under Powell’s leadership, Insurge released the top-grossing musical documentary “JUSTIN BIEBER: NEVER SAY NEVER,” the horror hit “THE DEVIL INSIDE,” and the biopic “KATY PERRY: PART OF ME.”

Powell joined Paramount in 2004 from an interactive marketing position at Sony Pictures. In 2006, she was promoted to Senior Vice President of Interactive Marketing, and in 2010, was tapped to run Insurge Pictures. She has created, developed and executed digital marketing campaigns for such films as the “PARANORMAL ACTIVITY” and “STAR TREK” franchises, “IRON MAN,” “CLOVERFIELD,” “JACKASS,” “TRANSFORMERS,” “TROPIC THUNDER” and “TEAM AMERICA.” Powell began her career at CNN.

Powell has received numerous industry awards, which includes being featured on Variety’s 2012 Women’s Impact List and being inducted into the 2011 American Advertising Federation Marketing Hall of Fame. Her work has been recognized by the Key Art Awards, Webby Awards, OMMA Awards, IAB MIXX Awards and more. Powell has also been profiled as a 2005 Next Generation executive by The Hollywood Reporter and Media Maven by Ad Age.

In addition to her professional accomplishments, Powell remains dedicated to charitable work, focusing on her passion for helping children in need. She participates regularly in mentoring programs and reads to elementary school students as part of Viacom’s Viacommunity initiatives. Powell also regularly volunteers at the UCLA Pediatric Oncology Ward, bringing arts and entertainment to critically ill children.

Powell holds a BA from Emory University and a MBA from the Anderson School at UCLA.
