One great way to learn about a law school is to ask students and alumni for a story about a memorable experience. Here at Suffolk Law, the community is full of stories about life-changing moments in the law: working on a mobile app that helps pro se litigants; writing the rules of civil procedure in collaboration with an Indian tribe; clerking for a judge downtown during the 1L summer; representing a small entrepreneur in a trademark infringement case against Monster Energy Drink, are just a few of thousands of examples. Talk to our community members about our Top 20 ranked clinical, legal writing, dispute resolution and law technology programs; ask them about their relationships with faculty. And let their answers speak for themselves.

Over the years, the foundation has substantially diversified their portfolio. While they continue to hold shares in Johnson & Johnson, most of their investments are in global equities, followed by alternative investments/limited partnerships and fixed income securities. Makena Capital Management manages funds based on an endowment-model investment approach that seeks to achieve long-term capital appreciation with relatively low investment volatility and risk. The firm seeks to generate long-term, risk-adjusted returns and capital appreciation by investing in investment funds, investment partnerships, securities, and discretionary accounts across a broad range of marketable and alternative asset classes. Makena implements this strategy primarily by selecting and investing in investment funds, separately-managed accounts and other vehicles managed by third-party investment managers. The funds also directly purchase certain public securities. The funds are characterized by broad diversification across asset classes, strategies, geographies, and currencies. This investment approach incorporates the full range of asset classes, including private equity, real estate, natural resources, absolute return, tactical/hedged equity, global public equity, fixed income and cash. Investments may include publicly traded securities, securities traded over-the-counter, swaps, investment contracts, options, derivatives, debt instruments, futures, commodities, currencies, real estate, fixed income securities and private or restricted securities.

The Schwartz Center for Compassionate Healthcare is the only national nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening relationships between patients and caregivers and promoting compassionate, patient-centered care. The Center reflects the vision of Ken Schwartz, a Boston healthcare attorney who died of lung cancer at age 40 and found that what mattered to him most as a patient were the simple acts of kindness from his caregivers, which he said made "the unbearable bearable." He founded the Schwartz Center in 1995 to ensure that all patients are treated with compassion. The Center is housed at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, where Ken received his care.
