Biography

Alison Fortier joined IRI’s Board of Directors in 1993. She also serves on the Board of Trustees of Freedom House and on the Board of Advisors for the Thomas Jefferson Public Policy Program of the College of William & Mary. Alison began her career in Washington, DC as professional staff of the House Foreign Affairs Committee. Subsequently she served as Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Legislative Affairs, National Security Council staff. Alison joined Lockheed Martin in 1996, retiring as Vice President for Missile Defense and Strategic Systems in 2013. Alison is the author of A History Lover’s Guide to Washington, D.C.: Designed for Democracy, published by the History Press in May 2014.
