These global challenges pose risks and opportunities that can materially affect a company's ability to sustain profitability and deliver returns. Our research plays an important role in forming our views on the quality of the business, the quality of management and valuation. A Diverse Advisory Board Our Advisory Board, convened by our Chairman Al Gore, helps set our long term thematic research agenda into global sustainability issues. The Advisory Board is a diverse set of global thinkers who help us anticipate the changing context for business. Vision Generation's vision is to embed sustainability into the mainstream capital markets, and our core values reflect a commitment to responsible citizenship. Five percent of the profitability of the firm is allocated to the Generation Foundation, which will support global non-profit sustainability initiatives

SAM uses a value-oriented, long-term, bottom-up stock selection process. Their research team appraises businesses by studying financial statements, regulatory information, trade publications, and other industry and corporate data, and by talking with corporate management, competitors, and suppliers. They use two methods for their appraisal: (1) they seek to assess the company’s liquidation value based on the current economic worth of corporate assets and liabilities; and (2) they seek to determine the company’s ongoing value based on its ability to generate free cash flow after required capital expenditures and working capital needs. In selecting investments they look for companies with strong business and good people.

Marathon Asset Management focuses on distressed and situational investing which seeks attractive absolute returns through investments in the global credit markets and real estate related markets with a long-term goal of building a world-class asset management platform. Their core competency is opportunistic investing in the global corporate, emerging market and structured credit markets based on fundamental, bottom-up research across distinct investment funds, managed vehicles, and separate accounts. The firm’s private credit business includes direct lending, asset based lending, including healthcare and aircraft leasing along with real estate lending.
