Initially founded as a private institution in the Methodist tradition, Morgan State University was purchased by the state of Maryland in 1939 to offer more higher education opportunities to its minority constituents. Morgan State University is an HBCU. Morgan State University is located in Baltimore, and offers a wide range of studies for undergraduate and graduate degrees.
