The Ohio Police & Fire Pension Fund employs an asset allocation strategy in which a risk parity approach adopted allows a portion of the portfolio to be conservatively leveraged. Their objective is to reduce the total expected risk of the portfolio without sacrificing the expected return. This approach balances the fund's exposure among investment classes that perform differently in various economic and market environments. The Ohio Police & Fire Pension invests in US equities, non-US equities, fixed-income, global inflation protected securities, high yield bonds, real estate, private markets and cash.

Louisiana State Employees' Retirement System's (LASERS) assets are invested in diversified stock, bond, and alternative asset portfolios. Their current allocation includes traditional and non-traditional assets. Traditional assets include: Domestic Equity, Domestic Fixed Income, International Equity, Emerging Market Equity; Emerging Market Debt, and Global Fixed Income. Non-traditional assets include: Private Equity Fund-of-Funds (domestic and international), Private Equity Direct Funds (domestic and international), Absolute Return Fund-of-Funds, Absolute Return Direct Funds, Global Asset Allocation, and Real Assets/Inflation Protection Investments. The following asset class target allocation and permissible ranges have been established: Equities 47% to 67% with a target of 57%; Fixed Income 2% to 22% with a target of 12%; Alternative Assets 14% to 34% with a target of 24%; and Global Asset Allocation 2% to 12% with a target of 7%. The investment committee is responsible for establishing the structure of the portfolio, including the funds to be allocated to active/passive portfolios and internal/external managers.

TRS invests the members' funds in several diverse classes of assets, including equities, bonds, real estate, and alternative investments. This diversification helps TRS earn the highest possible long-term rate of return within appropriate risk levels. In turn, this enables the firm to pay guaranteed benefits to members and their beneficiaries at the lowest possible cost to participating employers and the taxpayers that fund them. Generally, the retirement system's liabilities are paid for as many as 30-40 years. As a long-term investor, TRS holdings can withstand some short-term volatility. The retirement annuity trust fund's long-term investment objective is to achieve an annualized rate of return of 7.5%.
