Company Description

Intrinsic Value Asset Management (IVAM) is a value investor that focuses on investments in US micro-cap medical, biotechnology and technology companies that are trading close to their liquid net-worth per share. The firm's stock selection process employs both quantitative and qualitative research. Their quantitative process begins with a computerized search for micro-cap medical, biotechnology and technology companies with the most pristine and liquid balance sheets. The firm is extremely conscious of price. They only consider investments in companies that are trading close to net working capital per share and have a reasonable burn rate (cash loss). Many of the companies in which the firm invests are in the process of or have recently completed a restructuring. IVAM's qualitative process seeks to identify companies that were taken public by a reputable investment banker, that have a proprietary technology and that have significant barriers to entry. They also consider whether a company has a strategic partner or the potential to be acquired by an industry giant, who is in control of the board of directors, insider transactions, the company's business model, the impact of a restructuring and/or a change in management and how well the company is being followed by other analysts.
