Exceptions may be made for distressed businesses that have a history of operating at or above this level. Investments are primarily in the form of management-backed leveraged acquisitions, recapitalizations and growth financings but may also include platform acquisitions, family management buyouts and distressed acquisitions. Source Capital focuses on value creation through growth, business development and operational improvement rather than through financial engineering or excessive leverage.Source Capital's industry focus includes business services, distribution/supply, healthcare and light manufacturing. They also consider businesses that are complimentary to their portfolio holdings. This includes: (1) heavy equipment rental (2) ambulance businesses (particularly those with a non-emergency focus) (3) manufacturers of storage items (i.e. sheds), furniture, play sets and other large items to be built or installed in the backyard (4) metal and plastic hardware and accessories for use in the apparel business (5) coffee roasters, wholesalers and retailers and (6) businesses that serve the nuclear power industry including waste processing and storage.
