PIMCO employs a broad range of portfolio management tools that seek to appropriately manage risk, hedge exposures, and seek returns consistent with client guidelines. They have considerable experience in an array of global investment strategies, which include both fixed income and equity strategies. The firm also offers alternative strategies, primarily through private investment vehicles such as private equity funds and hedge funds. These strategies encompass long/short, private equity, distressed debt, commercial real estate and other alternative strategies. PIMCO combines top-down macroeconomic forecasting with rigorous bottom-up credit analysis in its investment process. Their cyclical and secular economic forums drive the top-down element of the firm’s investment process which begins with an annual secular forum. The firm’s bottom-up research on individual securities generally considers such factors as finances, credit quality, call risks and structures.
